Fellow Jaycees--
The Michigan Jaycees Annual Meeting is a weekend full of training, networking, recognition, fun, and the election of our 2012 State Officers. Join us as we celebrate the success we've achieved during the Third Quarter of our journey to Happily Ever After.
NEW THIS YEAR! On Friday evening, following the Opening Ceremony and Meet the Candidates caucus, we will have a Comedy Showcase, featuring 3-4 comedians from the Zanie's Comedy Club in Chicago, IL, including two who are finalists for the upcoming World Series of Comedy competition to be held in Las Vegas later this year.
On Saturday morning, we will hear nominating and seconding speeches for candidates for the 88th President of the Michigan Jaycees, the Programming Vice Presidents, and the State Membership Director. Following that, we will have a morning of trainings, and then our Awards Luncheon.
Saturday afternoon is wide-open, and with breweries and wineries in close proximity, we encourage you to explore the area!
Saturday evening is our Presidential Ball, where we will hear from both 87th President Dave Worthams and the 88th President-Elect, followed by dancing and partying.
The Annual Meeting concludes with Fellowship Breakfast on Sunday morning, a non-denominational Christian service hosted by our Chaplain, Allan Joseph.
About the hotel:
Our host hotel this weekend is the Summit Village area of the Shanty Creek Resorts complex, which just recently completed a multi-million dollar renovation. The Michigan Jaycees have not been to Shanty Creek in nearly 10 years. Similar to Boyne, you can book multi-bedroom suites, and our discounted reservation rate is good for 3 days before and after the Annual Meeting (pending availability). There are the following room options, all rooms have balconies:
Double room (2 Queen beds, 1 bathroom, 1 balcony): $90
Studio Room (King Bed, Kitchen, Bathroom, 1 balcony): $120
1-bedroom Suite (King Bed, 2 Queen beds, Kitchen, 2 Bathrooms, 2 balconies): $165
2-bedroom Suite (King Bed, 4 Queen Beds, Kitchen, 3 bathrooms, 3 balconies): $235
You can also book a nearby chalet, but given what's available, my advice would be stay IN the main building and not have to go outside! Let me tell you, I did a site-tour here in early August, and the views from the main hotel rooms are stunning.
